The Liquid Silicone Rubber Molding process is leveraged in many market segments, including medical, consumer, and automotive products. Here at Uniphase, we work alongside our customers to produce Liquid Silicone Rubber products that are durable and flexible enough to withstand wear and tear for prolonged usage. The advantage of using our latest Liquid Silicone Rubber Molding technology is why Uniphase stands out in the plastic injection molding industry.

What is Liquid Silicone Rubber Molding?

Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) Molding is an injection molding process utilizing Liquid Silicone Rubber. With its high durability and biocompatibility, LSR is an ideal material for many applications. LSR is highly non-reactive, making it an all-around ideal material to use in a wide range of industry needs.

The machines used for LSR Molding at Uniphase are state-of-the-art hybrid/electric injection molding machines equipped with automation.

The Uniphase 6-step process allows every product to be specially made and tested to ensure that each part is manufactured with precision. This process includes:

  1. Napkin Drawing
  2. CAD Drawing
  3. 3D Printing
  4. Sample Product
  5. Production
  6. Finished Part

Why use LSR?

Choosing the right material for flexibility and customization when creating a product is essential, and LSR gives customers that capability. LSR maintains its properties under extreme temperature ranges, from   –76°F to +365°F.  LSR is ideal for parts that must withstand wide temperature ranges, making it an ideal material for extreme environmental conditions.  It is available in a wide range of durometers and can be compounded with many additives that enhance its properties for a variety of applications.

LSR has high electrical and chemical resistance and is autoclavable. There are grades that bond to other materials, making it highly versatile. Its high resistance to chemicals, water, oxidation, and compression set gives it a long service life that can resist wear and tear, meaning there’s no need for constant maintenance. LSR is suitable for many applications, particularly in medical equipment, since it’s bio-compatible, non-toxic, tasteless, odorless, and resistant to bacterial growth. LSR’s ability to withstand high electrical current also makes it an excellent option for manufacturing products and equipment operating in high voltage areas. There are many other industry-specific parts that benefit from being manufactured with LSR.

The Uniphase team helps customers every step of the way to allow the design process to be innovative and precise when designing their LSR molded component.
